How and Why of Koi Nutrition


This course is open to any Koi Keeper who wants to learn more about Koi Nutrition. It is recommended that those enrolling in this course have some knowledge about Koi physiology and Koi nutrition. This would be considered an advanced level course.

Course Description:

This course is about nutrition in general and the specifics of feeding Koi in particular. There is detailed discussion about the differences of feeding in an aquatic environment, and how this environment dictates healthy nutrition and feeding practices. There is good reference to the anatomy and physiology and how food is utilized by Koi. Clear explanations and animated slides help one better understand the material presented.


Learning Objectives:

Koi Keepers enrolling in this course will learn more about:

The basics of fish nutrition

How and why feeding fish differs from feeding mammalian pets

The specifics of Koi rations, proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and the various feed additives available

How to choose a diet and feed it correctly

Required Materials:

All students will need an email address and internet access to use the K.O.I. forum. The CD used for this course works on both PC and Mac. It is designed to be viewed at screen resolutions of 1024x768 or higher, though it is usable at lower resolutions.
